Frequently asked questions.

Where are you located?

We’re nestled in the countryside near Whites Creek, TN - just north of Nashville and south of Goodlettsville. Our peaceful, creekside property offers plenty of space for dogs to run, play, swim, and rest in a nature-rich environment.

What services do you offer?

We offer boutique-style boarding, daycare, and a variety of training programs, including board-and-train options. Our training focuses on leash manners, calm behavior, and reliable recall, with special programs for puppies, off-leash work, and therapy dog prep.

How many dogs do you care for at once?

We limit our guest list to no more than 7 dogs at a time, allowing us to provide high-quality, personalized care for every pup who stays with us.

How long do the dogs stay in their kennels.

At Union Hill Canine, kennels are simply a safe and cozy place for rest - not where your dog spends all their time. During the day, dogs rotate in and out of their kennels in supervised intervals. Depending on each dog’s social skills and comfort level, they’ll either enjoy individual outdoor time or be matched with carefully selected playmates for group play. No dog is ever kenneled for more than 2 hours at a time during the day.

We maintain a calm, low-stress environment and always adjust our rotation schedule to meet the needs of the dogs in our care, because every pup deserves both freedom and rest in healthy balance. All dogs sleep in their own private kennel overnight from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, giving them a quiet space to rest and recharge after a full day of play and enrichment.

Do you accept dogs with behavioral issues?

We do not accept dogs with a history of aggression, severe separation anxiety, or intense behavioral concerns for boarding or daycare. However, if you’re unsure whether your dog is a good fit, feel free to reach out! We’re happy to have an in-person consultation and refer you to a trusted behavior specialist if needed.

What tools do you use for training?

We always begin training with treats & toys, a martingale collar (the safest collars to use!), a 6’ leash, and a 30’ leash. If a dog is struggling after a couple weeks, we may introduce a prong collar, not to punish, but to provide extra guidance. For off-leash training, we incorporate the e-collar as a communication tool, but always introduce it thoughtfully and responsibly. Regarding the e-collar, we thoroughly believe it’s better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Can I visit the facility before booking?

Yes! We’d love to meet you! All new clients are required to book a consultation before their dog’s first stay, which includes a meet-and-greet and temperament evaluation to ensure we’re a great fit.

Do you offer grooming?

We’re currently building an on-site grooming salon! While we don’t yet offer full-service grooming, we do plan to introduce baths, nail trims, and light grooming as add-on services very soon!
